2. Sherman Jr. / Sr. High Jog-a-Thon, March

This year will mark the 4th annual jog-a-thon fundraising event at Sherman Jr. / Sr. High School on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 3:45 PM until 5:45 PM. The participants of this event will include the high school track, tennis and baseball teams. Participants will run, jog, and/or walk the high school track for a period of 2 hours. The goal is to complete as many as ¼ mile laps as possible, earning your support along the way.

Leading up to this event, participants will be looking for sponsors to help fundraise for their respective programs. Sponsors have two options when determining how much they would like to pledge to each participant:

  • Pledge a certain amount per lap completed (ex: $1.00 per lap multiplied by 10 laps = $10 dollars).
  • Pledge a flat total regardless of laps completed (ex: $15.00 total).

Families and community members are encouraged to come to the event to cheer on our participants.

3. Customer service class offered at CGCC

The ability to communicate in Spanish is a valuable skill in today’s business environment. CGCC community education offers a new course this spring for customer service representatives serving Spanish speaking customers. This course will assist participants in developing the skills and confidence necessary to verbally communicate to customers in Spanish. Through instruction and practice exercises, participants will learn easy phonetic pronunciations for basic terms and expressions you can use at work. And the best part: no prior Spanish language skills are necessary. The class meets on Monday evenings at the Hood River campus beginning March 28. The cost of the class is $79. Preregistration is required by calling the college at (541) 506-6011.
