The Sherman County Public/School Library Youth Program, Sherman County Prevention Program, and Center For Living are sponsoring a Youth Program that meets every Wednesday after school and we need your old newspapers. The students work together on an idea that will build team work, creativity, and school pride. The students have chosen to build a 6 ft. tall Sherman County Husky out of Paper Mache’.
If you have any old newspapers that you would like to donate please bring them to a drop off box at the Library.

4. Letter to the Editor: Can we make sense of the Malheur mess?
To the Editor in reference to “Can we make sense of the Malheur mess? https://www.hcn.org/articles/malheur-occupation-oregon-ammon-bundy-public-lands-essay
I believe this is a prescient and insightful report. Not only does it help us understand what happened at the Malheur occupation, but helps explain how the many historical and present issues affecting our society as a whole may have had a contribution to what was going on. It begs this question.
Why is there such a lack of insightful reporting by the mainstream or corporate media? There is a complete absence of any investigative reporting by our mainstream media. We don’t have news anymore, we have entertainment. The media that 99% of us are exposed to are more interested in sensationalizing, not in presenting the facts. This is one of the reasons I quite often state, “… that a lot people I know are voting against their own best interests.” Most of the news is not based on presenting the facts with an unbiased perspective. The corporate media, most of the time, tends to gloss over, or completely leave out, the relevant facts to push an agenda. This subtle form of propaganda is employed to keep people uninformed or misinformed about most issues.
