1. ODOT Highway Construction Week of November 16 Update: Wasco and Sherman
Central Oregon Road Construction UPDATE:
Week of November 16, 2015
For further information contact:
The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is continuing to invest in Oregon’s future with roadway improvement projects throughout Oregon’s central region (ODOT Region 4). ODOT is committed to providing a safe, efficient transportation system. The following projects reflect ODOT’s commitment to making improvements as traffic numbers rise and to make the roadways safer and more efficient for drivers. All work is dependent on weather conditions. Red denotes new or updated information.
I-84: The Dalles – Fifteenmile Creek MP 83.5 – 88.5
Wildish Standard Paving Company will be replacing the concrete pavement located on Interstate 84 within the city limits of The Dalles. They will also be constructing a new bridge on I-84 over Threemile Creek. The work will take place in stages in order to minimize delays and ensure that both freeway lanes are open in each direction during peak traffic volumes this summer and over holiday weekends.
Starting September 8th traffic will be placed in a single lane in each direction to continue the second major stage of construction. During this stage construction, the westbound lanes will be removed and replaced with 12 inches of continually reinforced concrete. The second major stage of construction will be completed by Thanksgiving 2015.
Note: On Friday, November 13, the I-84 westbound off-ramp for Exit 87 (to U.S. 197) will be closed from 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.
During the week of November 15, the contractor will shift westbound traffic onto the newly paved westbound slow lane (right lane). The eastbound traffic will continue to use the eastbound slow lane (right lane). The traffic shift will start Sunday and will take multiple days to complete.
All lanes on I-84 will be open over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, from noon on Wednesday, November 25, till midnight on Sunday, November 29. After the holiday weekend, I-84 will again be down to one lane in each direction until the project is completed in late spring 2016. Over the next few weeks, be aware that there will be multiple traffic switches. Please slow down and watch for changes in traffic patterns.
US 97: Moro to Madras
KERR Contractors will be replacing 29 miles of pavement on U.S. 97 between Grass Valley (MP 27.1) and Shaniko (MP 56.7). The project also includes the construction of passing lanes between MP 43.8 and MP 45.4, installation of new highway signs between Moro and Madras, and adding ADA compliant sidewalk ramps in Grass Valley.
During the week of November 16th the contractor will be winterizing the construction zone of the new passing lane work and performing some cleanup operations on US 97 at various locations between MP19 to MP88. Traffic can expect minimal delays Sunday 7 pm through Friday 3 pm.
